At this time of year, in our part of the world, we deal with lots of snow. We experience the beauty of snowfall and the sparkle of the sun on the snow-covered ground. We also deal with the regular need to brush off our cars and shovel our walkways.
Good experiences or not, snow fills our days, and can inspire our imagination!
Once Upon a Winter's Day: storytelling lessons with a wintry theme offers inspiration for stories using a variety of different snow people. Each page gives a lesson and a different snow character to inspire a story.
Once Upon a Winter's Day can build storytelling skills or give you enough ideas to inspire a full book. Either way, these lessons can add sparkle to the imagination!
An example of a winter's day story is Samba and the Snowy Day by Paul Yanuziello. Check out the story as it is read in the Kindness Kangaroo Library and be sure to check the description in the video for a link to order the book for yourself!
For some more wintertime ideas check out my ABCs of winter colouring book which offers a winter topic for each letter of the alphabet. You can get this downloadable book from the quiteacharacter bookstore or Teachers Pay Teachers.
Help us share the love of reading by commenting with your favourite winter story, maybe we can feature it in the Kindness Kangaroo Libary too!
